Socks and Chocs is the vison of ex-armed forces and West Midlands Police Officer Ian Northcott.
Inspired by experiences in his own career, Ian set up Socks and Chocs to raise funds to provide a pair of clean, dry socks to members of the homeless community on the streets of Birmingham and Wolverhampton. He has worked tirelessly since 2010 and now distributes socks, chocs, and sleeping bags as far afield as Coventry and Worcester.
After raising £243,586.43 since 2017, we are delighted to be continuing our support for Socks and Chocs in 2020. We’ve set ourselves another challenging target for this year to help Ian reach even more of those who need help from Socks and Chocs. The Chris Westwood Charity was chosen charity for 2016 - Total raised £60,835.61
In 2016, we raised more than £60,000 for the Chris Westwood Charity. Founded in 2003, the charity helps children and young people with physical disabilities living in Stourbridge and the surrounding areas. As well as offering practical help, the charity also provides financial assistance to families needing to buy mobility equipment when there are no other sources of funding available.Believe to Achieve was our chosen charity for 2015 - Total raised £41,032.51
The charity was founded in 2001 by Lisa Potts, the Wolverhampton nursery school teacher who protected her class from a machete wielding attacker in 1996. She was subsequently awarded the George Medal. The charity tackles low self-esteem among children in Wolverhampton. The money we raised during 2015 helped to make a considerable difference to their work and the local community.
"Without doubt the benefits to the charity's profile and work across the City of Wolverhampton is greatly enhanced by this wonderful mutual partnership. ’Together we can' is one of the charity's mottos and this partnership brings the statement to life." - Nick Pratt, Project Manager - Believe to Achieve.Compton Hospice was our chosen charity for 2014 - Total raised £27,749.81
In 2014 we chose Wolverhampton based Compton Hospice as our charity for the year, and set ourselves a target to raise £10,000. With the help of our colleagues we were able to more than double our contribution and raised £27,749.81. From running to walking, Easter eggs to Christmas jumpers and baking to singing, our colleagues have gone the extra mile to improve the life of patients facing a life-limiting illness.
From time to time we also support other charity events which are close to our hearts. To name just a few, in 2014 we supported Cancer Research with many employees completing the Race for Life, and MND with our sales team taking part in the internet frenzy Ice Bucket Challenge.
In addition to our charity partnerships, we are always looking at ways we can help in our local community. As part of our commitment to this, we sponsor Wolverhampton Rugby Club and Alvechurch Cricket Club. We believe both clubs share our values and team spirit.
Our annual sponsorship is aimed at supporting these clubs and giving something back to our local community. It goes further than financial contributions; we aim to bring together activities which have a positive and lasting impact in the community.
"Together we are providing the community with fast modern service whilst keeping traditional family values." - Natalie Cooper, Club Secretary.
